A few excerpts from clients letters expressing appreciation for the service provided by FASS.

"It has been a long year battle for myself against alcoholism, a battle that has seen me go down many different roads..... I have been to numerous psychiatric wards, Castle Craig, A.A. and CPN.  All of the above have helped in my recovery but is has been FASS and more importantly the two counsellors who have guided me back to the good life I have today.  In comparison to five years ago, where I was physically and mentally, as low as I could go, I now have my own flat, business and most importantly, my two children playing a major part in my life.  It is without a doubt that both self-determination and your guidance and support that have got me where I am today".

"Thank you for all that you’ve done for me in the past 16 months.  It has been quite a traumatic year for me; not only learning to deal with life without alcohol but the added stress of problems with my dad’s addiction and the death of my mum.  However, you have been there as an ear with a heart filled with compassion and most importantly, with many great words of advice!  Life has now turned and is stable enough for me to cope without medication and an end to our regular counselling sessions.  But I know you will be there if the need arises and that is a great comfort.  So, I just want to say thank you and all that you have done for me has been much appreciated"!

"First I would like to say I received courtesy and kindness from the receptionist and was quickly sent leaflets etc. after my call.  I then received a follow up letter explaining about the appointment system.  Very effective but also still personal.  I would like to thank you again for all your help.  My counsellor was sympathetic but non-judgemental and put me at ease.  Most important of all you were practical and informative giving me lots of ideas that have been of great help to me – lists, tasks and getting up and doing something when I get “twitchy”.  Of course I still have days when I am not so good – no doubt will have for a long time to come.  I am proud to say it is now nine weeks since I have had a drink.  I know Christmas is to come but I will take each day as it comes – keep on being stubborn and bloody minded!  Thank you all again and I have kept your phone number just in case".
