How to Refer an Employee?

Is alcohol affecting an employees attendance or performance at work?

Identify Problems Early!

Wherever possible raise the issue or concerns at an early stage focusing on work performance.  If an alcohol problem is identified an employee may contact the Agency on a voluntary basis and attend for counselling without reports submitted to an employer.

If the problem is more serious an employee may be referred as a policy referral.  In such instances discipline is held in abeyance pending assessment for an alcohol problem.  If a problem exists the employee may be required to attend for counselling on a mandatory basis with Reports and attendance as to progress of counselling reported back to employer via FASS.  In such instances a contract is made between FASS, the employee and employer to work together and this is subject to a signed mandate being exchanged between employee and counsellor to this effect.  Download Referral Form and Flowchart for information about Referral Process.

Please note: All counselling sessions are confidential, although you can obtain reports recording client attendance and progress - administration fee applies.
